TAMPA, FL – July 12, 2017 - Focal Point Data Risk, LLC (Focal Point), one of the largest pure-play data risk consulting firms in North America, today announced the appointment of Yvette K. Connor to serve as the firm’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Connor brings a portfolio of diverse client and corporate experience to Focal Point and spearheads the firm’s risk management practice focused on the C-Suite and Board, where she applies more than 20 years of experience to help executives make data-driven decisions about organizational growth, technology risk opportunities, and assessing and measuring cybersecurity risk factors. Connor joins Focal Point from consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), where she was Managing Director of Insurance and Risk Advisory Services with a dedicated focus on enterprise-wide risk management and compliance.

“Yvette is an outstanding addition to our team and an ideal fit to lead Focal Point’s growing Enterprise Risk Consulting practice.  Her background developing groundbreaking models for cyber risk measurement and prioritization will give our clients a competitive advantage unique in the market,” said Focal Point’s CEO, Yong-Gon Chon. “With so many competitive, legal, and existential business concerns hinging on cyber risk awareness and accountability at the boardroom and C-Suite level, both our company and our clients will benefit from Yvette’s fresh approach to measuring, visualizing, and acting on cyber risk intelligence.”

Connor’s additional strategic roles at Focal Point include overseeing the firm’s work behind the acclaimed Cyber Balance Sheet Report, the first-of-its-kind research study launched this year using surveys and interviews with corporate board members and chief information security officers (CISOs) to identify cyber risk issues resonating in boardrooms. She also leads Focal Point’s Executive Network, an innovative program pairing renowned cybersecurity leaders and risk advisors with Focal Point clients that need bespoke or high-visibility expert insights and recommendations.

“Focal Point presented a remarkable opportunity to join a renowned team and help our leaders and our clients confidently make crucial decisions about key enterprise-wide risk priorities and compliance postures,” added Connor, who has advised clients ranging from professional sports leagues and municipal governments to financial services firms. “While there is growing recognition of cyber consequences at-large, decision-makers place a greater premium on counsel going beyond generalized recommendations and digging into their organizations’ unique contours and risk factors. Focal Point has built a rare, unified platform of people and practices helping business leaders visualize and act on the intersecting issues and questions related to today’s most dynamic risk management concern: cyber risk.”

Connor focuses on identifying opportunities for value creation in risk counseling, including building decision-driven models informed by risk factors and organizational behavior. Prior to A&M, she served as the Director of Client Engagement for Marsh, where she was responsible for the top 1500 client relationships and a member of the analytics team supporting Global Risk Management clients. She previously was the Director of Risk Management at Vulcan Inc., a privately held company, with a diverse portfolio of more than 200 operating companies, where she led the development of a multi-disciplinary risk management department. Earlier, she served as Vice President of Risk Management at Roll International, a global food producer, distributor and product manufacturer, as well as Director of Insurance and Risk Financing at Sutter Health. In 2013, Business Insurance magazine named Connor as one of the “Women to Watch” in Risk Management and Insurance. In 2009, Treasury and Risk magazine recognized Connor as one of the top “40 under 40” professionals in her field.
