Focal Point Joins the Identity Defined Security Alliance

February 28, 2019

Focal Point Joins the Identity Defined Security AllianceTampa, FL – Focal Point is pleased to announce that it has joined the Identity Defined Security Alliance (IDSA), an industry alliance helping to improve security and cyber risk management by acknowledging the central role of identity in a hybrid and mobile world. As one of a small number of systems integrators in the IDSA, Focal Point looks forward to contributing important on-the-ground context to IDSA’s worthwhile mission.

The Identity Defined Security Alliance is a group of identity and security vendors, solution providers, and practitioners that acts as an independent source of education and information on identity-centric security strategies. The IDSA facilitates community collaboration to create a body of knowledge that provides organizations with practical guidance, implementation best practices, and validated solutions to reduce the risk and impact of a breach.

Focal Point has long paired its IAM Integration Services with a wide range of tactical and strategic cybersecurity services and vendors – and our support of the IDSA is a logical extension of those efforts.

“We’re tremendously excited to join the IDSA. Day in and day out, our teams are implementing IAM programs, cyber risk strategies, and security controls for enterprise customers. Increasingly our clients have asked us to benchmark against industry risk standards from NIST and the like, and the Identity Defined Security Framework provides us with another toolkit, including use cases that describe security solution integrations. We look forward to bringing that unique practitioner experience to the IDSA and its outstanding roster of member organizations,” said Buck Bell, the General Manager of Focal Point’s Technology Integration practice. “We are eager to begin collaborating with this community, and are confident that Focal Point will bring a fresh perspective to this important conversation.”

Originally established in 2015, the IDSA works with key thought leaders from the identity world to:

  • Create practical guidance for identity and security professionals to plan and implement identity-centric security architectures
  • Educate the identity + security community on the benefits of identity-centric approaches
  • Provide an online forum creating a community for sharing best practices, crowd-sourcing new tools and providing feedback for peers and vendors on integrated solutions
  • Benefit the identity + security vendor community by advocating for integrated identity-centric approaches and providing resources that produce better educated prospects

Focal Point has been delivering innovative solutions to identity-related security issues for more than a decade. Focal Point solves these problems by assessing identity governance programs and making recommendations for improvement, implementing solutions that meet compliance and security goals, and managing identity governance programs for greater efficiency and security. Focal Point has partnered with leading solution providers – including fellow IDSA members in SailPoint, CyberArk, Ping, One Identity, and Okta – to build secure and sustainable identity-centric security programs for hundreds of enterprise and government clients.
